Governor Orval Faubus stumps in downtown Springdale during his 1964 reelection campaign. Faubus won the race over Republican challenger Winthrop Rockefeller. The Springdale News reported that Faubus declared it to be "his greatest victory since his initial triumph over incumbent Francis Cherry in the 1954 Democratic primary runoff."

Faubus also stated that the main factors in his winning were his "good administration" and the personality and work of Mrs. [Alta] Faubus.
