Threshing crew at the Vol Denton farm in Alpena (Boone County), 1914. Carl Erwin, owner of the threshing equipment, is seating above the rear wheel of the steam engine; Ben Mallett is on top of the water barrel. The threshing crew traveled all over the Boone County areas of Crooked Creek and Long Creek Valley. Erwin used the steam engine for wheat threshing jobs in the summer, and for sawmill work in the winter.
