Cinco Crawley Dickerson, Bentonville, 1920s. Cinco Crawley was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1900. In 1920, she moved to Bentonville where she was a teacher in the town's school for African American children. Classes were held in a local church.
Cinco married
Arthur "Rabbit" Dickerson in 1922. During her
tenure as a teacher, Cinco Crawley Dickerson helped establish a PTA and
organized a fundraiser to purchase land for a new school and playground.
She continued to teach until the Bentonville schools were desegrated in
the late 1950s.
