Homemade Valentine

This Valentine is part of a collection of paper items purchased at the Lucy Cross Cartmell Leming auction in 1989. Lucy (1898-1989) and her first husband, Oliver Cartmell, married about 1917 and lived on a farm north of Brentwood (Washington County). There they raised two children, Bertha and George. There are dozens of homemade and "store-bought" Valentines in the Leming collection that were given to Bertha and George during the years 1926-1937.
