| In 1971, Jeanne Hoffer-Tucker of Norfork, Arkansas commissioned Essie Ward to paint an entire set of Hezzikiah and Miranda paintings--40 paintings in all. Mrs. Tucker decided to sell her collection in the early 1980s. She asked Fayetteville journalist and historian Ernie Deane to help her find an appropriate place for the paintings. Deane contacted the Shiloh Museum Board of Trustees, who launched a fund drive to purchase the Tucker collection. Since then, the museum's collection of Essie Ward paintings has grown to include 59 different works. |
