Johnson Log Cabin Coffee Bin

Manufactured in 1911 by the Columbia Can Company of St. Louis, Missouri, this coffee bin was used in the Nail & Calico General Store at Drakes Creek (Madison County) to store bulk coffee. The contents of the store was sold to Knott's Berry Farm in California in the 1950s, but the coffee bin was saved by storekeeper Minnie Nail and placed in the Drakes Creek hotel.

Minnie gave the coffee bin to her grandson Donald Harington in 1964. Harington took the bin to his home in Putney, Vermont, where he used it in his study to store manuscripts. He donated the coffee bin to the Shiloh Museum in 1983.
