Patrol

SPRINGDALE POLICE PATROL DIVISION

The Patrol Division is the backbone of the department and provides emergency and non-emergency services 24 hours a day. The Patrol Division is divided into three eight-hour shifts. The Patrol Division's primary functions are:

  • Providing Emergency Services
  • Developing Community Relations
  • Proactive Patrols and Crime Prevention
  • Enforcement of Criminal Statutes and Arrest of Offenders
  • Regulation of Traffic and Enforcement of Traffic Laws
  • Calls for Service
  • Reporting of Criminal Activity 

Several specialty units are available to support the Patrol Division should there services be needed. 

K-9

The K-9 Division includes two K-9 teams, which are assigned to patrol shifts and assist in the normal day-to-day patrol operations. K-9 's assist in vehicle sniffs for the presence of narcotics, suspect tracks, evidence recovery, building searches, lost persons and handler/officer protection.

The K-9 teams are nationally certified in the detection of illegal drugs. They are also certified in obedience and handler protection.

Bomb Squad

The Springdale Police Bomb Squad is available to provide support in the 5 county area of Northwest Arkansas.  State of the art equipment was recently acquired through federal grant funding including fully remote robotic capabilities.

Drug Recognition Expert

The Drug Recognition Expert program provides support for officers dealing with individuals impaired by drugs and alcohol.  These officers are trained to evaluate and make preliminary determinations of the type of impairment exhibited by subjects.

Traffic Safety Officers

Civilian Traffic Safety Officers work accidents that occur on private property and non injury accidents that occur on the roadway. They help keep patrol officers available to respond to higher priority calls.
