Vacation Leave

Benefit-eligible employees earn vacation leave by pay period with maximum accrual allowance of 240 hours plus one year's accrual.
  Accrual Rate:  
  00 - 01 year 080 hours
  01 - 11 years 120 hours
  12 - 20 years 160 hours
  21 + years 200 hours
   

Sick Leave

Benefit-eligible employees earn sick leave by pay period at the equivalent of 20 working days per year with a maximum accrual allowance of 480 hours.
   

Retirement Plan

401 (a) Money Purchase Plan administered by ICMA-RC.  Eligibility begins on the first day of employment. Employee contributes 3% before state and federal taxes are deducted.  The City contributes 6%.  Taxes will be paid when the money is withdrawn at retirement or separation. Pension is vested after 5 years of employment.
   

Deferred Compensation

Optional employee-paid pre-tax contribution to personal retirement account.  Postpones state and federal taxation on income until withdrawn.  Also administered by ICMA-RC.
   

Direct Deposit

Optional computerized payroll deposit directly to a checking or savings account with any participating bank, credit union, or savings & loan.
   

Credit Union

UARK Federal Credit Union offers many accounts, services, and benefits.  Contact Finance Division.
   

Group Health Insurance - (PPO)

Administered by Arkansas BC/BS. Employee only, employee and spouse, employee and child, or family coverage available with City paying 70% of premium cost and employee paying 30% of premium through payroll deduction. Eligibility effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Newborn coverage effective immediately – unmarried non-self supporting dependent children to age 23 if covered under family plan and a full-time student, otherwise to age 19.
   
  MAJOR MEDICAL
$30 primary care co-pay benefit. $500 individual calendar year deductible then 90% of allowed charges paid to in-network provider and 70% paid to out-of-network provider. $2,000,000 lifetime maximum per covered person. $500 per year wellness benefit.
   
  DENTAL
100% diagnostic and preventative services. 80% coverage for basic services and 50% coverage for major services. Dental benefits are payable up to an amount of $1,000 if a covered person incurs covered expenses in a calendar year in excess of the $50 deductible.
   
  VISION
$10 co-pay for in-network eye exams through VSP plus discounts on hardware items.
   
  PRESCRIPTION DRUG CARD PROGRAM
Participants will pay $10 for a generic drug prescription, $30 for preferred brands, and $50 for non-preferred brands.
   
  LIFE AND ACCIDENTAL DEATH COVERAGE
If a death occurs while covered under this plan, Life benefits payable are $15,000 for employee.
   

Flexible Spending

Numerous tax-sheltered supplemental products such as LTD, additional life insurance, cancer plans, heart/stroke, unreimbursed medical and child care expenses.
   

Miscellaneous Benefits

Workers' Compensation Insurance, Social Security, Jury/Court Leave, FMLA, Bereavement Leave, Military Leave, Injury Leave, and free employee parking.
   

Civil Service Employees

Some benefits differ for Civil Service employees (Uniformed Police Officers and Firefighters) such as Retirement Plan, Vacation Leave, and Social Security. Contact the Police and Fire Departments respectively.
