A. Handling of DWI Cases by Prosecution Agency
The Springdale City Attorney’s Office prosecutes all DWI
cases, unless they are sent to the County Prosecutor’s Office as a
felony or with a related felony. DWI #1, DWI #2, and DWI #3 are all
misdemeanors under Arkansas law, and made up approximately 99% of the
DWI related arrests made in Springdale during the year 2006 (818 cases
were handled by the City of Springdale, while only 9 cases were sent to
the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office).
B. Conviction Rate in Cases Adjudicated
Of the 818 DWI arrests made in 2006, and handled as misdemeanors in the
City of Springdale, 754 have been adjudicated of as of the date of this
publication. Of the 754 adjudicated cases, 747 persons have been
convicted of DWI, for a conviction rate on the cases adjudicated of
99.07%. Chart No. 12 that follows sets out the dispositions of the cases
handled by the City of Springdale, and Chart No. 13 sets out the
dispositions on all cases, including felonies. These charts are updated
on the City Attorney’s web site (www.springdaleark.org/cosa)
as cases are adjudicated.
