July 31, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Living History Workshop. Have you ever wanted to be someone else? If you like history, pretending to be someone else, and dressing up in clothes from days gone by, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Living history is a field of interpretation where the past is brought to life. Workshop attendees will be eligible for apprentice level certification by the Arkansas Living History Association. To receive the certification you must be a current member of ALHA; annual dues are $12 per person. August 7, 2:00 p.m. "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Moths in the Ozarks," a Summer Saturday program by Lori Spencer, author of Arkansas Butterflies and Moths. Kids craft activity included! August 8, 2:00 p.m. Genealogy Jeopardy, a game show featuring local history and genealogy facts and trivia, presented by members of the Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society. August 18, noon. A program on the diaries of Madison County farmer Milton Cooper, by Shiloh Museum outreach coordinator Susan Young. September 11, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. 33rd Ozark Quilt Fair, with antique and new quilts for show and sale. Musical entertainment by Shout Lulu, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. October 4-March 26, 2011. The Music of Our Lives, an exhibit on the role music has played in the everyday lives of folks in the Arkansas Ozarks. October 9, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Fishback School Reunion, for former students, teachers, and friends of this country school located east of Springdale. November 6, 2:00 p.m. "The Mountain Dulcimer in the Ozarks," a hands-on workshop by Bob Madison, who will discuss dulcimer origins, repertoire, and migration to Arkansas. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the noter and drone style of playing. December 4. Holidays are for the Birds! Join local bird experts Joe Neal and Lynn Sciumbato for a couple of programs on our feathered friends. At 11:00 a.m., Joe will present a slide program on "Winter Birds in Northwestern Arkansas." At 1:00 p.m., wildlife rehabilitator Lynn Sciumbato and some of the residents at Morning Star Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will show and tell us about life as a bird. December 21-April 16, 2011. Bumper Crop, a photo exhibit about the rise and fall of the apple industry in Northwest Arkansas. |
